About MedWeb Community

MedWeb is a catalog of biomedical and health related web sites maintained by the staff of the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library at Emory University. The brain child of Steve Foote, MedWeb evolved to include a number of editors with the original database created by Andy Koglenik.

Scott Turnbull created the second iteration of the MedWeb database, with a number of people contributing to both the content and cataloging of sites, including Bill Davis, Ingrid Hendrix, Kalyani Parthasarathy, Liz Conner, Jim Copsias and Ann Hulton.

MedWeb Community (MWC) is the next generation of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library's original MedWeb. MWC will focus on globally available quality biomedical resources. MWC also strives to be accessible to all, epecially those with Low Vision and to users with low bandwidth.

If you would like to become an editor of MedWeb Community, please send an e-mail to Ann Hulton

Guidelines for inclusion of sites in MedWeb: Please Note, we are currently weeding the collection. There may be some sites that do not meet the following criteria and they will be weeded.

  • Credibility - author and/or sponsor of the site is a reputable source for the information.
  • Currency - site is actively maintained.
  • Content - information on the site does not have an obvious bias and the source of the information is clearly stated.
  • Design - layout of the site is clear and preferably the site searchable.
